About the Role

The VP of Marketing will develop and lead our marketing strategy across all retention and acquisition marketing channels including email, SMS, paid social, search, and native channels. You will be responsible for driving growth through new member acquisition as well as retaining existing members to achieve company goals.  You will be responsible for building a team that will ultimately create a brand and new category around performance health. You will partner with outside agencies to develop and evangelize our brand through a period of rapid development, testing and diversification. You will acquire and develop relationships with our customers, driving cost-effective acquisition through digital and other channels to support the purchase of our comprehensive healthcare memberships, wellness products and educational programs.

Responsibilities

Revenue Growth & Optimization

  • Strategically pursue growth in direct response ecommerce and subscription service products)
  • Own growth strategy for growing consumer company, contribute to strategic planning and organizational design discussions for various product offerings and company products
  • Partner with senior leadership and stakeholders and collaborate with other departments to accelerate revenue growth

Brand and Product Positioning, Company Voice

  • Partner to update and optimize the company brand as well as position new products and services aimed at different segments so that the company messaging is cohesive, attractive and aligns with company goals
  • Support branding and product positioning internally so that all parts of the organization act as consistent, aligned brand evangelizers including sales
  • Discover and communicate customer insights to the greater organization as well as build creative content
  • Own media strategy, internal and external communications

Multi-Channel Customer Acquisition

  • Discover and test new and existing channels for customer acquisition
  • Establish and monitor efficiency metrics that inform investment decisions and performance monitoring for the team
  • Discover and drive digital customer acquisition through partnership with agencies and development of in-house resources targeting multiple channels, laying out the testing strategies for employees
  • Assess and deploy marketing campaigns with alternative, non-digital channels including affiliate sales and traditional media campaigns for consumers as well as influencers including celebrity and athletic platforms

Website and Inbound Marketing Platform Development

  • Support lead conversion by developing and continuously monitoring a robust, multi-step marketing funnel to nurture leads
  • Cohesively own and consider our website, social, search and email campaigns to support an overarching conversion strategy
  • Add sophistication to the company’s current understanding and treatment of its different customer types to strengthen our relationships with them

Leadership and Accountability

  • Build and develop in-house talent by recruiting, retaining and empowering marketing team members to scale their area of responsibility across different products and services
  • Integrate data and analytics into the culture of the marketing team to ensure KPIs are consistently set and measured, and to ensure data is integrated into the decision-making process
  • Drive accountability for managing marketing spend and project budgets
  • Manage direct reports, third-party vendors and contractors

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Revenue growth & optimization (direct response ecommerce and subscription products)
  • Marketing strategic planning and brand development
  • PR and communications management with a visionary mindset
  • Media strategy & spending
  • Customer relationship management (CRM)
  • Both tactically competent (capable of “rolling up your sleeves”) and strategically adept with hands on expertise in the design and execution of digital marketing campaigns
  • Relentlessly focused on “voice of the customer” with a strong brand sensibility
  • Possess high EQ and effective at influencing centrally within an organization that has often operated de-centrally with a variety of stakeholders, including physicians
  • Tech-savvy, results-driven and highly analytical with knowledge of metrics and ROI analysis
  • Passionate and experienced around d2c customer discovery, building brands, launching products in the performance healthcare and digital health space
  • Cross-functional operations planning and execution
  • New business incubation (start-ups) and product launch
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to develop strong partnerships with influencers, athletes and celebrities.
  • Knowledgeable in operational execution from consulting, investments or operating capacity
  • A skilled communicator, both in writing and verbally, who always takes context and audience into account
  • Ethical and trustworthy

 Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or related field preferred
  • 10+ years of professional experience with a strong progressive record in marketing leadership as well as consumer-facing, omnichannel digital direct response and P&L responsibility
  • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and healthcare marketing best practices
  • Experience working with a sales team to coordinate for sales
  • Experience with mobile and app marketing a plus
  • Proficiency in analytical tools and marketing methodologies
  • Occasional national travel (approximately 40%)
